Acuo’s DICOM Services Grid software suite offers superior image management, archiving, and migration solutions that are extensible and collaborative. Acuo delivers a set of applications that extend and virtualized storage, network, and application resources. Acuo’s architecture scales up and out to create either very large centralized repositories or fully distributed DICOM Storage Grids that offer superior integration, lower total cost of ownership, bandwidth control, speed of deployment, and ease of management. The vision became reality with AcuoMed/AcuoStore Next Generation DICOM Archive, introduced commercially in 2001 after receiving its FDA 510-K approval.

Since this time, over 60 medical sites around the world have added AcuoMed/AcuoStore to their existing PACS networks to enhance and accelerate the routing, distribution, and increasingly complex storage management of DICOM images.  PACS vendors also incorporate AcuoMed/AcuoStore to enhance their own product’s performance.

As Acuo Technologies has grown, it has expanded its expertise to include new developing standards, including XML, IHE and HL-7.   Reconciliation, HIS/RIS integration, data migration and further abstracted storage management capabilities have been added to its core products.  Packaged configurations that solve niche requirements (for 3D, 64-128 CT scanners, and for digital mammography) are now available.

Scalability has been enhanced in both directions.  Solutions are available for small radiology, orthopedic, chiropractic, and veterinary practices. Solutions are available for very complex configurations that link multiple sites with multiple PACS and other “ology” systems with DICOM image management requirements.
